Shady Business

That's a pretty impressive shadow that tree is casting on this appartment block, don't you think?! Especially considering the sun was in completely the wrong direction!

I think I counted all the leaves, and yep they don't add up. I wonder if this was painted by tracing the shadow using a strong floodlight!? ..when the tree was covered with leaves of course. It's a cool concept.

PS my recent blog entry is also a painted building... but it doesn't boast quite the same level of artistry.

Maddox - there's an artist in Brooklyn, NY by the name of "Ellis G." who makes chalk outlines from shadows. The NY Times wrote an article about him on Dec 10 2005 called "Tracing Shadows; Brooklynite Finds Art Wherever Light Is Blocked".

Wonderful shot Sab...can't tell where it is, but it really is effective. Wonder if they fill in the leaves in the spring and summer?!

Having no camera... (a photographer without a camera - can you imagine...) is forcing me to look through the archives, which is quite interesting anyway.

I really appreciate the comments about me losing it, and am touched - I think you realise what that particular event meant to me, and your support has been wonderful!

Gotta try and get a new one now!
