Direct Soir

The weary ride home, evening paper on the lap, baguette in hand or simply vacantness in the eye, it's a familiar story.

'Direct Soir', by the way, is one of a plethora of free papers which have mushroomed over the last few years and now you have to battle through the forest of hands (and ex-trees) being thrust at you as you stagger out of the Metro every morning. I've counted up to five different publications being pushed at certain stations.

That's Sting on the cover, of course, and as a totally unrelated comment, some have said I occasionally resemble him. For you to check out my self-portraits I suppose and tell me if it's true!

Thanks for commenting on Hyde DP - yes indeed Alderley Edge is not so far away from us probably 20-25 kilometres.

"The Metro" is a free newspaper that is distributed on the buses here. I picked one up on a 40 min journey today - flicked my way through it for about 15 mins then put it on a seat - the chap sat next to me picked it up - shorly before journey's end he put it down and a woman picked it up and placed it in her bag to read later!

Oh, great, I remembered it was Alderly Edge - ahh, the memories I couldn't begin to tell you!

We have Metro here too of course, and it certainly gets around, but unfortunately most of them end up on the floor and it seems a waste but somewhere it must be adding up in someone's calculations...

Hello Sab!! Welcome to the world of CDP!!! As Paris remains one of my favourite cities (I lived there for 5 years), I've added you on my blog. I like your photos a lot, and will definitely pop by regularly; looking at Paris still makes me dream....

Hi French girl in The Hague! Thanks for visiting... you have some nice pics on your blog. I've never been to The Hague but I'd like to go one day.

Yesterday I did a photo tour of Montmartre for a couple of American photo enthusiasts and I never get tired of this wonderful place! Have a great day,

Ahh yes, all those ex-trees.

Very evocative photo. And though I'm new here, I'm sure it is one of a million.

Heh hey - I look like Sting! Or is it Sting that looks like me? Wellll, who cares, we're both damn... similarish-looking, maybe. More self-portraits coming shortly, so you can decide for yourselves...
